String inverters are the most common and the most affordable; microinverters or power optimisers are fitted per panel and cost more, but they limit shading losses and make per-panel monitoring possible. A hybrid inverter for a combined solar-and-battery system sits above a standard string inverter in price. Each configuration has a different maintenance profile and warranty term.
